A woman is dead and at least two other people were injured Tuesday night in connection with a shooting in Pittsburgh’s West Oakland neighborhood.

The victim was identified as Tanika Paul, 29, of Pittsburgh, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said officers responded to two separate ShotSpotter alerts shortly before 9:30 p.m. along the 2500 block of Allequippa Street.

Alerts indicated nine shots were fired.

Cruz said police found two women injured at the scene. Paul was in critical condition and Pittsburgh EMS transported her to UPMC Mercy, where she later died.

The other woman was hospitalized in stable condition.

Cruz said a third victim, a man, arrived via private means to a hospital in critical condition.

Detectives from the city’s Violent Crime Unit are investigating. No information about possible suspects or more details about the victims was released.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact Pittsburgh Police at 412-323-7900.
