Pittsburgh Public Schools resume in-person classes at 5 schools, 21 schools to be remote Tuesday
Pittsburgh Public Schools is reopening five schools to in-person learning while closing 21 other locations, officials announced Monday.
Students can report back to class Tuesday at Pittsburgh Carrick High School, Pittsburgh Liberty PreK-5, Pittsburgh Lincoln PreK-5, Pittsburgh South Hills 6-8, and Pittsburgh Whittier PreK-5.
Staff and students at the 21 locations below will work and learn remotely:
• Pittsburgh Allderdice High School
• Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-8
• Pittsburgh Arsenal 6-8
• Pittsburgh Banksville PreK-5
• Pittsburgh Carmalt PreK-8
• Pittsburgh Chartiers Early Childhood Center
• Pittsburgh Classical 6-8
• Pittsburgh Concord PreK-5
• Pittsburgh Faison PreK-5
• Pittsburgh Grandview PreK-5
• Pittsburgh Linden PreK-5
• Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8
• Pittsburgh Mifflin PreK-8
• Pittsburgh Miller PreK-5
Officials said the moves are in line with the district’s building closure guidelines and take into consideration the number of positive cases that have physically been inside a facility, staffing shortages, and other factors. Instruction will transition to Microsoft Teams, and students will access work in Schoology at each school.
Grab and go will be available at each site, except Pittsburgh Sunnyside, from 9 a.m. to noon. Due to staffing shortages, Pittsburgh Sunnyside families may access grab and go meal service at Pittsburgh Arsenal 6-8, Pittsburgh Montessori PreK-5, or any other closed site.
