The Monongahela Incline is back in business after a seven-day closure.
The incline that moves passengers between Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington and Station Square was placed out of service on Oct. 18 after the west car was damaged during routine maintenance, according to Pittsburgh Regional Transit.
On Tuesday, transit officials announced the issues were resolved and the incline reopened in the afternoon.

The 153-year-old incline has been plagued by closures recently. It is the oldest continuously operating funicular in the nation.
In August, the Mon Incline was closed for a week after condensation build up caused by an air conditioning unit attached to the incline’s electrical equipment triggered an emergency brake.
The incline was closed for seven months between August 2022 and March of this year while an $8.2 million renovation project was completed.
