Holiday Park VFD sets golf fundraiser
Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department’s second annual Golf Classic is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 16 at Meadowink Golf Course in Murrysville.
Cost is $125 for single person entry and $450 per foursome if signed as a group.
The event is to help generate funds to support the Plum department’s day-to-day operations and bring communities and golfers together. Call 724-237-3456 or visit holidayparkvfd.org for more information.
Oakmont library offers Wise With Words
Oakmont Carnegie Library offers Wise With Words from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays through July 27 at 700 Allegheny River Blvd.
It is a free program for children in third through fifth grades to help make reading and writing more interesting.
Youngsters can select their own free books. All reading levels are welcome.
The program is limited to 10 students per session, and registration is required. Call Nia Pierre at 412-828-9532 for more information.
Stroke support group meets in Plum
Plum Community Center’s stroke support group meets the first and third Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the center, 499 Center New Texas Road.
Jeff Pope is the group coordinator. Experts say social activities, trips and keeping active are some of the best rehabilitation techniques.

Line dancing at Plum Community Center
Whether you want to brush up on your line-dancing skills or you just want to give it a try, classes are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursdays at Plum Community Center, 499 Center New Texas Road.
Beyond country, the genre of music most often associated with line dancing, other styles are featured.

Church of tBrethren hosts Bible study
Monroeville Church of the Brethren is hosting a ladies’ Bible study program at 6 p.m. Tuesdays in the sanctuary of the church, 481 Center Road.
