Activities in Plum and Oakmont this week - Jul. 22, 2019
Having trouble finding things to do in the Oakmont and Plum area this week?
Here are some ideas:
- Oakmont artist Kalen Crowell’s paintings and photography are on display all month long at the Oakmont Carnegie Library, 700 Allegheny River Blvd. Her work features portraits and nature settings among other images. Admission is free.
- The Oakmont library hosts Gentle Yoga with instructor Cora Fetchko 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at 700 Allegheny River Blvd. The program is suitable for all levels and no registration is necessary. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or a towel.
- Meditation with a Monk is set for 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Oakmont library. Join the monks from Natrona Height’s Pittsburgh Buddhist Center for an hour of relaxing meditation. The program is offered every Tuesday evening.
- Zumba with Kara Steiner is from 6:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Oakmont library. The dance fitness class is designed to keep people of all skill levels moving. No registration is required.

- Plum Community Center hosts free line dancing classes at 9:30 and 10 a.m. Thursday at 499 Center New Texas Road.
- Bingo is set for 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the community center. Each card is 75 cents.
- Yoga with Leslie Hlozek is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday at the community center. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing.

- Plum Community Library hosts Gardening in Your Space 1-2 p.m. Thursday at 445 Center New Texas Road.
Tammy Watychowicz, a naturalist and horticulturist for Allegheny County Parks, will talk about how to use space for gardening and for attracting birds and butterflies. Participants will plant a container to take home.
- The Plum library presents Space Case Book Club 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The program is designed for students in fifth grade and older. The summer reading club is led by Plum teacher Kate Austin. This week’s discussion is about “Space Case (Moon Base Alpha)” by Stuart Gibbs. Registration is required.
