Cinebrunch features ‘The Grinch’

Plum’s family-friendly Cinebrunch event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 9 in the banquet hall at the borough building, 2000 Old Mine Road.

Featured is a showing of “The Grinch.” Hot chocolate, coffee and donuts will be provided.

PALS holiday celebration

Plum Area Ladies Society will celebrate the holidays beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Plum Community Center, 499 Center New Texas Road.

The service project for the meeting is to donate new warm hats, gloves and scarves for the homeless. Members participating in the event’s gift exchange should bring a $15 wrapped gift. The refreshment team will bring hors d’oeuvres and desserts to celebrate the occasion.

For the group’s Ladies Day Out, members will take a guided tour of the Kerr Museum’s Victorian Christmas in Oakmont starting at noon Dec. 9. Following the tour, the ladies will lunch at the Village Inn in Verona. Signup will be at the meeting.

PALS is a service/social organization open to women in Plum, Penn Hills, Verona, Monroeville and surrounding communities. Newcomers are welcome to come to a meeting, always held at Plum Community Center at 6:30 on the first Wednesday each month, Sep. through April.

Church hosts Christmas bazaar

Oakmont Methodist Church will host its annual Christmas bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 2.

Featured will be a luncheon, bake sale, holiday crafts and attic treasures.

Council meeting change

Plum Borough Council will meet Dec. 13, a Wednesday, instead of its regularly scheduled second Monday of each month.

The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m., as opposed to the usual 7. Public comment is welcome for those who sign up to address council

Apply to fill council vacancy

In anticipation of an upcoming vacancy, Plum Borough Council is accepting applications for residents who are interested in filling an unexpired term of two years.

Mike Doyle, council president, won the Nov. 7 election for district judge serving Plum and Oakmont, and he announced plans to resign from council.

Interested residents can visit www.plumboro.com/home/news/council-applications to submit applications no later than 4 p.m. Dec. 15.

School boards reorganize

Riverview School Board’s reorganization and regular voting meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 4 in the auditorium at Tenth Street Elementary School, 901 Pennsylvania Ave., Oakmont.

The reorganization will occur first, followed by the voting meeting, if needed.

Plum School Board’s reorganization meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at Plum Senior High School, 900 Elicker Road.

Concerts by various Plum Borough School District musical groups are scheduled:

• Middle School Orchestra, 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at the middle school, 440 Presque Isle Drive

• Middle School Chorus, 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at Plum Senior High School, 900 Elicker Road

• High School Choir, 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at the high school

• Holiday Park Elementary School, 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at the high school

• High School Band, 7 p.m. Dec. 20 at the high school

• High School Orchestra, 7 p.m. Dec. 21 at the high school

Riverview school concerts

Concerts by various Riverview School District musical groups are scheduled. All start at 7 p.m. at the Tenth Street Auditorium, 901 Pennsylvania Ave., Oakmont:

• Winter Elementary Band/Orchestra, Dec. 12

• Winter Elementary Chorus, Dec. 14

• Junior-Senior High School Jazz Band Dress Concert, Dec. 19

• Junior-Senior High School Chorus Dress Concert, Dec. 21

The Riverview High School Music Department Road Show is planned for Dec. 18. Musicians will travel to Verner and 10th Street elementary schools to perform.

Benefit events at Plum High School

Plum School District’s annual Stuff-a-Bus event benefiting Toys for Tots is scheduled at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 at the high school, 900 Elicker Road.

The high school’s Make-A-Wish Telethon is scheduled all day on Dec. 21.
