PALS meeting set for October
Plum Area Ladies Society (PALS) will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Plum Community Center.
Plum Area Ladies Society is a service and social organization open to women from Plum, Penn Hills and surrounding communities. Newcomers are welcome to attend PALS meetings, held on the first Wednesday of each month from September through April.
Mary Bode, manager of Knead Community Cafe, a cafe where anyone can have a meal regardless of circumstances or ability to pay, will speak on the mission and operation of Knead Cafe. PALS service project will be to donate supplies and money to help with the operation of the Cafe.
Requested items include: paper towels, Mini Moo creamer cups; sweetened ice tea mix in canisters; 6-inch square Styrofoam hinged takeout containers; dry creamer canisters; small liquid hand soap bottles; Clorox wipes; large food service vinyl gloves; Awesome Degreaser (refill size); Fabuloso Multipurpose Cleaner-lavender; Tide or Gain powdered detergent; cupcake liners; individual basked sweets, such as mini-muffins, mini cupcakes or cookies; and supermarket or Sam’s Club gift cards.
The theme for the Friendship Basket will be Everything Fall. For Ladies Day Out, the ladies will celebrate Octoberfest at the Golden Goblet on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. Further details and signup information will be offered at the meeting.

Plum native takes VP post at American College of Radiology
The American College of Radiology (ACR) selected Plum native Reina Munsch as its new vice president of marketing, public affairs and communications. Munsch will lead the strategy and operations for integrated marketing and oversee public affairs, social media and online communications.
“Reina brings fresh perspectives to ACR communications outreach to answer covid-19 realities, promote advances in radiologic technology and artificial intelligence, emphasize patient safety and highlight our legislative and public policy priorities on Capitol Hill and the state capitals,” said William T. Thorwarth, ACR chief executive officer.
“With her vast experience, particularly in strategic planning, forecasting and analysis, Reina is well prepared to strengthen and grow ACR’s internal and external voice.”
Munsch has a background in marketing and communications in the association sector, most recently with the Industry Data Exchange Association.
Her background includes successfully leading branding/rebranding initiatives, increasing external communications placement in industry publications, developing blogs for association leaders and growing social media engagement.
“The ACR is radiology’s leading organization in promoting high quality, safe, equitable healthcare and modern medical technology advances,” Munsch said. “I look forward to leading the marketing, public affairs and communications teams to advance ACR’s positive impact on radiology and the patients our members serve.”
Unity Golden Age Club
Unity Golden Age Club Inc. will meet at noon Oct. 18 at the Unity Community Church Café, 215 Unity Trestle Road in Plum.

Plum’s Monday Market
The Monday Market is held Mondays through Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Plum Creek Park (Plum baseball fields), 1040 Ross Hollow Road.
Touch-a-Truck canceled
Oakmont Lions Club’s Touch-a-Truck event that was planned for Oct. 3 has been canceled because of the pandemic.
Organizers said the need for extensive cleaning after each child would climb in and out of participating trucks, as well as potential crowd size, swayed them to cancel the event.
They said they hope to host the event in the spring.
Oakmont library programs
Oakmont Carnegie Library offers a variety of free online programs. Director Beth Mellor hosts Tuesday Morning YouTube Storytime on Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.
