Oakmont Elks community picnic
The Oakmont Elks Club is hosting a community picnic on Saturday, July 19.
Starting at 4 p.m., the event will feature free food, games and crafts for children. The event is located at 106 Washington Ave. in Oakmont. Live music will start at 7 p.m.
Free dog, cat food available
Paws Across Pittsburgh is offering a mobile pet pantry from noon to 1 p.m. on July 27 at the Verona Eagles to assist people who need help feeding their pets.
The mobile pantry will have free dog food, cat food, treats and pet toys. Supplies are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles 1634 is at 315 James St. in Verona.
Plum set to demolish three homes in borough
Plum Council voted to demolish three homes in the borough.
The houses — 352 Tahoe Drive, 419 Plum Avenue and 708 Wimbledon Road — are unsafe to inhabitant and have been abandoned by the owners, borough officials said.
Borough public works crews will likely begin the initial demolition work soon, officials said.
Oakmont Hard to Recycle event slated
Registration is now open for the borough’s fourth annual Hard to Recycle event. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 30, participants can head to 731 Second St. to the drive-thru event hosted in partnership with Noble Environmental.
Accepted chemicals include paint or workshop products, automotive products, cleaning products, batteries, light bulbs, lawn and garden products, flammable materials and pool chemicals.
Accepted electronics include televisions, computers, printers, laptops, phones, window AC units, mini fridges and gaming devices.

Community center plans golf fundraiser
The Riverview Action Community Center is planning an 18-hole, four-person golf scramble fundraiser on Aug. 22 at Hill Crest Country Club in Lower Burrell.
Registration is now open, and eight packages are available. The price is $550 per foursome or $150 for an individual.
Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9.
Sponsors also are being sought for the event. Pricing ranges from $150 for hole sponsors to $1,500 for an event sponsor. For information about sponsorships, visit tinyurl.com/p4rsb3mr.
Proceeds benefit the programs and services that Oakmont-based RCAC offers to men and women in the surrounding communities.

Plum Class of 1985 to hold reunion
Plum’s Class of 1985 will host its 40th class reunion on Nov. 28 at Veltre’s Wedding Venue on Coxcomb Hill Road.

The event will take place from 5 to 9 p.m.
A Paris Affair
Higgins Productions will be hosting the first annual Paris Affair at the Riverside Landings Event Center in Oakmont.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Sept. 27, the event will feature 55 vendors and workshops on French décor, culture and travel tips. The event is free to attend.
Tickets for $75 to a VIP reception starting at 4 p.m. are available to purchase at parisaffairpgh.com.
The event will continue annually around the Pittsburgh area. It was invented to showcase the beauty in each business and to create meaningful connections in the area.
Group offers support for weight loss
All are welcome to join the men and women at Oakmont TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) who are learning how to lose weight.
With in-person meetings, rewards, support and encouragement, we gain knowledge of healthy eating and exercise.
You may visit with no obligation Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1261 Pennsylvania Ave. in Oakmont. Weigh-in is private followed by a brief business meeting, sharing time, and educational program all ending by 7:15.

Food pantry offers help
The Plum Food Pantry, 81 Sandune Drive, distributes free food from 4:30 to 6 p.m. the first three Tuesdays of each month for Plum residents. Residents in need must stop in at the pantry to be certified/verified.

Association of University People
The Association of University People invites singles 50 and older who are four-year college graduates to join them for activities and to meet new people. Activities include spring/summer picnics, monthly dinners, a book group, Scrabble, meeting up at local outside concerts and wineries.
