Little Plum Creek in Plum has been stocked with trout just in time for the borough’s annual fishing derby.

The event is scheduled for Saturday at Plum Creek Park along New Texas Road.

Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and fishing begins at 8 a.m. There is no end time.

It is free and open to resident and nonresident anglers ages 14 and younger with a parent or guardian.

There is no limit on how many people can participate.

About 650 trout were launched into the creek Thursday morning to prepare for the event.

“We stock it every year, and there’s still some in there,” borough manager Michael Thomas said. “I think it continues to grow, and it’s a great event. I think the community really looks forward to it and appreciates it. It’s a great opportunity to get outside.”

Early registration is available Friday at the borough building, 4575 New Texas Road.
