News briefs: Our Lady of Joy Knights of Columbus donates winter coats for Plum elementary students

Our Lady of Joy Knights of Columbus in Plum recently donated 24 winter coats for Plum elementary students through its Coats for Kids program.

They are being distributed with the assistance of school guidance counselors.

Coats for Kids is one of Knights of Columbus’ many charitable programs.

Leaf collection set

Plum’s leaf collection has begun, with each neighborhood’s collection day falling the day after trash pickup.

There will be no leaf collection Nov. 11 and Nov. 26-27.

The collection program is scheduled to end Dec. 4.

Food drive planned

A Thanksgiving food drive is planned for Nov. 1-16 at Rev 22 powered by Salud Juicery, 527 Allegheny Ave. in Oakmont.

People can donate goods Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
