Plum boys soccer team golf outing

The Plum boys soccer team will host its first annual golf outing June 13 at the Meadowink Golf Course in Murrysville.

The shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m. (arrive at noon). The cost is $100 per golfer, which includes golf, lunch and dinner.

Reserve your team of four. The outing is limited to 22 teams.

Payment must be received by June 1. Checks can be made payable to Plum High School boys soccer. Mail to Lisa Weleski, 4048 Impala Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15329.

Meet and greet

There will be a meet and greet with Pa. Supreme Court Candidate Kevin Brobson and Plum GOP Candidates with Allegheny County GOP Chairman Sam DeMarco on May 14 at 6 p.m. at Palmieri’s Restaurant, 951 Old Frankstown Road.

Free pizza and drinks will be provided. Admission is free.

Blood drive

B Three Solutions Spring will be hosting a blood drive from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 18 at the Plum Community Center, 499 Center New Texas Road.

To make an appointment, visit Vitalant.org and click the “donate now” button. On the new window, search with group code P953 and select your appointment time or call 412-209-7000.

All those who donate between May 1 and May 25 will receive a $5 Amazon gift card, redeemable via email.

Twin-Boros Memorial Day

The Twin-Boros Memorial Day parade and ceremony will take place May 31. The parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. on East Railroad Avenue and will proceed to the cemetery in Oakmont.

This year’s parade marshal is Frank Bonaroti with State Representative Carrie Del Rosso serving as grand marshal. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. at the cemetery. The guest speaker is Donald Koenig, Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate Corps and the executive director of the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Healthcare.

The program will include the traditional decorating of the chairs, a 21-gun salute by the Veterans of American Legion Post #600, calling of the honor roll and patriotic music selections.

All participants and spectators must follow CDC and Pennsylvania State Covid guidelines. Anyone who would like to donate to help offset the costs of the ceremony can send a check payable to Oakmont-Verona Memorial Day Committee, 504 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.

Plant sale

The Garden Club of Oakmont’s annual plant sale is back May 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hoffstot’s parking lot on Allegheny Avenue.

Hanging baskets, annuals and perennials, lettuce and herb bowls as well as one-of-a-kind flower-filled containers will be available. Flowers will be available by the flat or market pack.

The Lions Club of Oakmont will be at the sale selling brooms.

Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.
