Touch a Truck in Oakmont
Oakmont Lions Club has partnered with the Oakmont Carnegie Library to present the 2022 Fred Favo Memorial Touch a Truck from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 25.
The event is expected to have more than 20 different types of trucks — from police, fire and construction vehicles to a bookmobile — lined up along Allegheny River Boulevard from Washington to Maryland avenues.
The library will have a variety of children’s games.
Admission is $5 per person. Children younger than 12 attend for free.
The event is named in memory of longtime public servant and business man Fred Favo, who served on Oakmont council from 1964 to 2003, including 34 years as council president. Favo was the borough treasurer from 2004 to 2019.
He also was an Oakmont Lions Club member for 60 years and a track coach for Riverview School District for more than a decade.
Favo is credited with starting Touch a Truck with the Lions in 2017. He died June 8, 2020, at age 87.
All proceeds from the event benefit the library and Lions charities. Email oakmonthistory@gmail.com for more information.
