Oakmont Summer Street Sale set for Saturday
One of Oakmont Chamber of Commerce’s biggest events of the year is set for Saturday.
Allegheny River Boulevard from Pennsylvania to Washington Avenues will be shut down from at least 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the borough’s Summer Street Sale.
“This year’s event is going to be more of a festival,” Chamber Director Karen DeTurk said via email. “I am encouraging our members to think outside the box as far as entertainment.”
More than 100 vendors are expected to participate. There will be yoga, martial arts and dancing performances in the street.
Other activities include ice carving, balloon artists, blacksmithing demonstrations, a car cruise, live entertainment and a “Where’s Waldo?” scavenger hunt for children.
The new Verizon Wireless store’s grand opening is the same day. It will have a backpack give-away with free school supplies, and the Oakmont Bakery will offer circus treats.
