Plum Community Clean-Up Day set for Saturday

Volunteers are wanted for the fourth annual Plum Community Clean-Up Day.

The event is 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday in celebration of Earth Day.

Residents, civic groups, church groups and businesses are encouraged to help make the borough free of debris.

Assistant borough manager Dave Soboslay said about 100 people participated in last year’s cleanup efforts.

“We’re just trying to make Plum a better place to live and work,” Soboslay said. “We have heavily traveled roadways and they need cleaned.”

Participants will meet at the public works facility at 2001 Old Mine Road, where they will be assigned various sections of Plum to clean. A continental breakfast will be available for volunteers starting at 8 a.m.

The borough also provides gloves, bags and vests.
