Plum Community Library offering curbside pickup, other services starting this month
Plum Community Library officials plan to resume operations during the covid-19 pandemic by offering curbside pickup of materials.
Items can be reserved and picked up starting June 8. However, online holds have been disabled due to a countywide backlog in their shipping department. The Plum library is part of the Allegheny County Library Association.
People can still check the online catalog at plumlibrary.org for available materials, or call and ask a clerk for assistance.
Items can be reserved by calling 412-798-7323.
Library staff went back to work May 18, preparing the facility for reopening. The library was thoroughly cleaned by a contractor, and public and staff areas were disinfected.
Pickup hours are 10 a.m. to noon, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
In-person service is tentatively scheduled to resume June 22.
Officials said personal protective equipment will be available and all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines will be followed. Patrons will be required to wear masks while in the library.
Summer reading programs for all ages will be online this year. Registration begins June 15 at plumlibrary.org. Virtual programs, printable activities, story times and curbside crafts will be available.
