Plum EMS recently hosted a car seat safety check with assistance from PA Team Educators for Child Safety.
Certified car seat technicians checked equipment and instructed about a dozen families on how to properly install the seats at the ambulance station at 1990 Old Mine Road.
Participants needed an appointment to help minimize crowds. Organizers said the event was a success considering the current climate.
“Because of the pandemic and everything, it’s taken a while and things are starting to pick up,” said Brian Maloney, Plum EMS director of operations. “We took all the necessary precautions, practicing all the social distancing and the face mask. Overall the check went well.
“The goal was to make sure those children were in the right seat, and those seats were in correctly and to educate the families on how to do this.”
PA Team Educators for Child Safety also had a class for the car seat technicians at borough council chambers Sept. 10. Some of them were re-certified.
Maloney said he hopes to have two community car seat safety checks next year.
