It took a while because of the pandemic, but the Junior Girl Scouts from Plum Troop #55153 finally got their accolades.

The troop worked together as a team and completed the requirements needed to earn the Bronze Award. The girls made Christmas ornaments for the residents at Concordia at Ridgewood Place in Plum. In December 2019, the girls visited the residents there and played bingo with them, sang Christmas carols and passed out the ornaments to all. The girls are now proud recipients of the Girl Scout Bronze Award.

Another member of Troop #55153, Rebecca Griffin earned her Silver Award in May 2019. For Rebecca’s project, she built a Buddy Bench at Center Elementary School in Plum. The purpose behind a Buddy Bench is that no one should be left sitting on this bench at recess. If someone is sitting on the bench, another student is to go over and ask them to play with them. Rebecca built this bench with the help of her father, Chuck Griffin while mom Susan Griffin and sister Emma Griffin helped in placing the bench at Center Elementary School.
