Plum High School athletic fields upgrades complete
An estimated $2.4 million revamp of Plum High School’s athletic facilities has been completed.
The projects started with the football stadium turf, track and new lights being installed last summer.
The baseball and softball fields also received synthetic turf replacement from Art Global, an artificial grass manufacturer that worked on the football field. That work began around August.
The softball fields were done in late March, and the baseball fields were completed within the past couple of weeks with the first practice on them April 30 and first game May 1.
“The improvements made to our athletic facilities will have a very profound effect on our teams,” Plum athletic director Josh Shoop said. “We now have three different areas for our teams to practice on artificial turf year round for the most part. These areas will provide the Plum teams and the Plum community with athletic areas that may be used at all times because of the artificial surface but also because of the lights. We will also be able to collect some revenue from outside organizations that will directly benefit the Plum Borough School District.”
