Plum High School cheerleaders are ready to show school spirit and raise money for a charitable student club.

The annual Plum Proud Day at 900 Elicker Road is set for Dec. 18, the anniversary of the founding of the community.

Plum was originally founded as a township in 1788 and was one of the first seven in Allegheny County. It was recognized as a borough in 1956.

“We are asking everyone to come together and show how proud they are to be a part of the Plum community by wearing purple and gold,” varsity cheerleading coach Amanda Anderson said.

Shirts will be on sale for $10 in various sizes from youth small all the way up to adult extra large. They cost $12 for 2XL and 3XL.

Orders are due by Nov. 24. Shirts can be picked up Dec. 9-10.

Questions about the effort can be emailed to plumhscb@gmail.com.

More information’s posted on the district’s website under the Community News tab of the communication’s department.

A portion of the proceeds go toward Oblock Junior High School’s Reach Out Club.

The student-based community service club aids families from Plum and neighboring communities.

Reach Out also has an online campaign to help support its other projects. More information is available at gofundme.com/plum-borough-reach-out-fund.
