Plum’s farmers market returns next month with fresh produce and new safety measures.

The second season kicks off July 13 at Plum Creek Park off New Texas Road, across from the borough building.

The market is scheduled for 3-7 p.m. Mondays through the end of September.

Bridge’s Farm and Greenhouses and Morning Glory Farms are confirmed to participate. Other vendor spots are still available.

“I think it’s going to be a good market,” said Jim Bridges. “I think people want to eat fresh food and vegetables. Last year was a pretty good market.”

Vendors and guests will be required to wear masks on the premises, and booths will be at least six feet apart as part of the social distancing guidelines during the covid-19 pandemic.

Bridges said he’s been to other markets this year with similar guidelines.

“People are social distancing and being polite. It’s working out quite well,” he said.

Bridges plans to bring zucchini, onions, beets, potatoes, strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes and peppers on opening day. More produce will be available at future markets.

Carrie DelRosso, Plum’s public relations consultant, organized the event.

“We’re going to abide by the rules and follow the guidelines,” DelRosso said. “Last year, we would have a steady flow of people. We didn’t really have crowds, so I anticipate it to be as organized.”

Farmers may prepackage some produce and limit the handling of food as part of the safety measures. Hand sanitizer will be available at the market.
