The snow tubing area in Allegheny County’s Boyce Park is scheduled to open for the season on Friday, county parks officials announced.

The snow tubing area will be open Fridays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; and Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m.

The season will run through mid-March.

The park’s ski slopes opened Dec. 26.

The lodge will be open for concessions, indoor restrooms and equipment rental. The upper level will remain closed to the public.

Snow tubing tickets are $17 for county residents and $21 for non-county residents. Snow tubing tickets must be purchased online in advance. Season passes are not being sold.

Tubers must be at least 42 inches tall to participate. People under 50 inches tall must be linked to an adult while tubing.

Participants also must sign a waiver before tubing.

The tubing area is open when weather permits. Those planning to use the facility should call 724-733-4665 for a recorded message about conditions.
