Homicide detectives are investigating after a Beaver County man was found dead in the trunk of his car in Moon.

Officers were called to the former Texaco station at 8000 University Blvd. around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a body found inside a vehicle.

Allegheny County police said family members discovered the victim — identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office as 28-year-old Junaid Akhlas — while searching for him.

Family members reported Akhlas missing from his Beaver County home around 8 a.m., police said.

Police said Akhlas had been shot once in the head before being moved to the trunk of his own vehicle.

Detectives from Beaver and Allegheny counties and Moon police are investigating.
