Authorities are looking for a teenager charged with killing his father after an argument in East Pittsburgh last week.

Allegheny County Police on Tuesday said Tayron Reid, 19, shot his father, Ta’Ron Reid, 45, multiple times on Sept. 16 inside a Ridge Avenue apartment.

A witness told police that the two men argued inside the apartment, which belongs to a friend of the elder Reid, according to a complaint in the case. The witness did not say what the argument was about.

Reid told his father they could take it outside, the witness said, according to the complaint. The father declined.

Reid then walked into a back room, followed by his father, the complaint said. The witness heard two pops. Reid then left the back room with a gun in his hand, took his father’s car keys and fled.

Eastern Regional Mon Valley police responded to the house around 10:35 p.m. after someone called 911 to report gunshots.

The elder Reid was found lying on the living room floor, the complaint said. He had been shot in the head and torso. A paramedic pronounced him dead at 10:46 p.m.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released information on Ta’Ron Reid’s death. An office spokeswoman did not respond to a phone call or emails Tuesday seeking comment.

Police arriving at the scene that night said they found four spent 9mm cartridges and three projectiles inside the apartment.

Two days after the shooting, county police charged Reid with homicide.

The elder Reid’s car was found abandoned Sept. 17 on Webster Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood, the complaint said. The victim’s son previously lived near where the car was left.

The alleged shooter is 6-foot-2 and weighs 150 pounds, county police said.

Reid is potentially armed and dangerous, county police said. Police warned against approaching Reid and asked anyone who sees him to call 911.

Anyone with information on Reid can contact the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
