Teen wanted in fatal McKeesport stabbing arrested in Oakmont
A 15-year-old boy wanted for the fatal stabbing of another teen in McKeesport was arrested in Oakmont on Monday, according to police.
Damian Baverso is charged with homicide and making terroristic threats in connection with the Friday killing of 19-year-old Kai Brown. He was taken into custody by Oakmont police, and he remains in the Allegheny County Jail, authorities said.
Police said the incident stemmed from an altercation between Baverso and Brown at Midtown Plaza Apartments on Sinclair Street.
A criminal complaint filed in the case said Brown was at the apartments with his girlfriend when she received a text message from her ex-boyfriend, Baverso. The text indicated Baverso also was in the apartment building, and he allegedly began threatening to kill the woman.
Brown and the woman went to the apartment where Baverso – who the woman described as a “runaway” – was staying, and Brown began to argue with Baverso about the threats, police wrote. After the argument turned physical, police said Baverso pulled a knife and began stabbing Brown.
The complaint said another person pulled Baverso off Brown, and he ran as the woman called 911. Cellphone video footage captured the fight and stabbing, according to police. Brown was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the county police tip line at 1-833-255-8477.
