An early morning fire closed D’s Six Pax and Dogz Sunday in Regent Square.

A popular Swissvale hot dog shop was closed Sunday after a fire.

Police said they were dispatched to D’s Six Pax & Dogz around 2:30 a.m. for a dumpster fire.

The Braddock Avenue business is in the Swissvale section of the Regent Square neighborhood that also includes parts of Edgewood and Pittsburgh.

D’s posted an announcement about the incident and closure on its Facebook page.

The fire spread to the building but the damage was contained to the back area by the beer cave, general manager Rena Agostinone said.

“Everyone is okay thank God, it could have been much worse.” Agostinone said.

Police said they believe the fire was set intentionally and the investigation is ongoing.

No information about possible suspects was released.

Agostinone said the business will be assessed by professionals in order to determine how long it will take to reopen.

Eric Hernandez, an associate at nearby McBroom Distribution, said he came to work Sunday and heard about what happened.

“I’m kinda shocked,” he said. “It’s not something you really see around here.”

He said many of the businesses around town support each other, and he believes D’s will be up and running soon.

“They should bounce back hopefully in a couple days,” Hernandez said.
