Police investigate 2 shootings in Homewood

Four people were wounded in two shootings late Friday night in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood, police said.

In the first shooting, a man was shot in the head and stomach and a female suffered a graze wound in a shooting that was reported at about 9 p.m. in the 7100 block of Race Street.

The male victim underwent surgery at a local hospital, police said. Details about his condition on New Year’s Day was not available.

The female victim who suffered a graze wound was treated at the local hospital, police said.

In the second shooting, Pittsburgh police said that a man who had been shot was found by University of Pittsburgh police. The officers found him at 11:50 p.m. in the area of Fifth Avenue and University Place, police said.

The victim was reported in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.

An investigation determined the victim may have been shot in the 1600 block of Lincoln Avenue and left the scene on his own without being taken by ambulance, police. A female also suffered a graze wound in the shooting.

Pittsburgh police are continuing the investigation into the shootings.
