A 17-year-old boy was shot Sunday evening in a Stowe neighborhood near Sto-Rox Junior-Senior High School where an all-star football game was being played.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Russellwood Avenue and Dale Street about a block away from the football stadium.
Allegheny County police are assisting Stowe police in the investigation.

It was close enough to the stadium that Tribune-Review sports correspondent Jerin Steele heard the gunshots from the press box.
Steele was covering the Never Fear Being Different football WPIAL all-star game and heard the shots about two minutes before halftime.
Steele said he and another person in the press box “hit the floor” upon hearing the gunshots.
While exiting the stadium Steele said he saw the 17-year-old who was shot on the ground bleeding from the leg.
No injuries were reported inside the stadium and police made no mention of the game in a news release.
Never Fear Being Different CEO Jordan Rooney said the game was canceled immediately after the shooting. He said everyone’s safety was the utmost priority prior to the game.
“We overstaffed security. We searched everyone at the door. It could have happened anywhere,” Rooney said.

The game won’t be rescheduled because the players are college-bound soon, he said.
