A McKeesport man died over the weekend, days after he was beaten and strangled during a suspected home invasion that left a woman in the home with injuries as well, according to police.

David Gutierrez-Faust, 66, died Saturday, four days after police say he was beaten and strangled in his home.

Allegheny County Police have charged 30-year-old Devin Alexander Hale in connection with the incident.

The alleged home invasion happened shortly before 11 p.m. at a home on Grover Street. Police arrived to find a man unconscious with no pulse on the floor and a woman with multiple scrapes, scratches and bruises, according to the criminal complaint.

The man, later identified as Gutierrez-Faust, was taken to UPMC Presbyterian.

The woman who was in the home at the time told police she’d been contacted by Hale on Facebook demanding to know where his girlfriend was, police wrote in the complaint. About an hour later, the woman said, she answered the door to find Hale and a second man, both of whom pushed their way inside.

Gutierrez-Faust came downstairs, and Hale began attacking him, according to the complaint. The woman told police Hale punched and ultimately strangled Gutierrez-Faust.

The woman said Hale grabbed her and dragged her from room to room, beating and strangling her along the way, police wrote. She told officers Hale pushed her down the stairs and told her, “If you snitch on me, I’ll (expletive) kill you,” according to the complaint.

Hale faces a slew of charges, including homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, robbery, witness intimidation and strangulation, homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, robbery, intimidation, conspiracy, terroristic threats and strangulation.
