Police: McKeesport bus stop stabbing prompted by attack from partly naked man

An Indianapolis man remained in jail Monday after police say he disrobed from the waist down at a McKeesport bus stop in a manic state, shouted racial slurs and attacked two people — prompting one of them to stab him multiple times in self-defense.

Brayden Dixon, 21, approached a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus around 11 a.m. Saturday at the McKeesport Transportation Center, an 85-space park-and-ride lot along Lysle Boulevard that is served by three bus lines, according to a criminal complaint.

He approached a bus driver while she was on break, the complaint said.

Dixon removed his pants and began arguing with two men nearby, the complaint said.

The men told police they tried to leave, but Dixon — who police said was screaming and appeared to be on drugs — chased them and hurled racial slurs.

Dixon struck one of the men in the back of the head and tried to use pepper spray on him, eventually knocking him to the ground, the complaint said. That man then pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed Dixon several times in the chest, police said.

Dixon continued attacking until a McKeesport police officer arrived and subdued him with a Taser, according to the complaint.

Paramedics took Dixon to Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, a Pittsburgh Regional Transit spokesman said Saturday. A second person at the scene suffered a superficial cut to the arm and was treated at a local hospital.

The bus driver was not hurt.

Port Authority police charged Dixon with a felony count of aggravated assault, misdemeanor counts of simple assault, indecent exposure and open lewdness, and a summary charge of disorderly conduct.

He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and arraigned Sunday morning, court records show. A judge set his bail at $25,000.

Dixon’s preliminary hearing is set for July 28. His attorney was not listed Monday in court records.
