A Pine Township man was charged with a felony after medical staff at a hospital called police when his mother came in to be treated for a stab wound to the head.

Northern Regional Police charged Demitri R. Marsh, 19, of the 8000 block of Falcon Court, with one felony count of aggravated assault in connection with an incident at his home March 30, according to a criminal complaint.

Marsh was released from custody on a nonmonetary bond. A preliminary hearing before District Judge William Wagner was scheduled for April 11.

Police said they were dispatched to AHN Wexford Hospital in Pine after a member of the medical staff reported that there was “an assault victim” being treated at the hospital.

The woman told hospital staff that Marsh stabbed her in the head with a pair of 6-inch fishing tweezers, which typically are used while making fishing lures or to remove hooks from fish.

Marsh’s mother told police she and her son were working in the home’s aquarium room and her son got angry when she handed him the wrong item, the complaint said.

She told police that Marsh stabbed her in the head when she bent down to pick something up.

The woman said her husband drove her to the hospital for treatment with the tool “sticking out of her head.”

She said her son apologized and said it was an accident as she was leaving to be treated and sent a text while she was in the hospital again apologizing.

Police said they saw a wound on the woman’s head while she was at the hospital that “was consistent” with being stabbed while being bent over.
