A 23-year-old Rankin man was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting Friday in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood.
Akeyba Sanchez was charged with criminal homicide and denied bail, according to court documents.
Zone 3 police officers on patrol near Brownsville Road and Bausman Street heard gunshots around 2:45 a.m. on Friday, said police spokeswoman Amanda Mueller.
Officers found one man who’d been shot in the head, Mueller said. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified him as Willis Brooks, 30, of Duquesne.
Sanchez is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on homicide, conspiracy and weapons charges at 8 a.m. April 8 in Pittsburgh Municipal Court.
