Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a shooting late Thursday in Munhall.

Allegheny County and Munhall police are seeking information on the whereabouts of Darnell Pearson, 53, after securing a warrant for his arrest. Police said Pearson illegally entered a home on Scotia Way shortly before 11 p.m. and shot a 33-year-old man in the chest. The shooting victim, who had been visiting with a resident of the home, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police said.

Police said a 10-year-old child also had been inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Pearson, who police said is known to frequent the Munhall and Homestead areas, is described as a black male standing 5 feet, 11 inches and weighing roughly 225 pounds. He is wanted on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, reckless endangerment and illegal possession of a firearm.

Anyone who sees him should use caution and contact 911, police said. People with information on his whereabouts also can call the county police tip line at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
