Police seek tips from public about fatal shooting in West Mifflin, victim identified

Allegheny County Police homicide detectives are seeking tips from the public about a fatal shooting of a Pittsburgh man on Wednesday morning in West Mifflin.

County homicide detectives responded to the scene after someone called 911 shortly before 8:30 a.m. to report a shooting in the 900 block of B Drive, according to a news release.

First responders found Javelle Smith, 27, had been shot in the head. He was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital, where he died at about 11 a.m.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the County Police Tip Line 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
