Police standoff in Beltzhoover ends with no arrests
Pittsburgh police Sunday morning continued to look for a suspect that officials said was at the center of a standoff with officers late Saturday night in Beltzhoover.
Officials said members of Pittsburgh’s SWAT team surrounded a house on the 100 block of Freeland Street just before 10 p.m. after a domestic call. When officers arrived at the scene a woman came out of the home with injuries to her face. She was treated by medics at the scene.
According to police the woman claimed her male domestic partner had barricade himself in the house. Police said the suspect refused calls to come out of the residence.
Pittsburgh’s SWAT surrounded the house. After a two-hour standoff in which the suspect did not respond to repeated calls for him to exit the house police said they entered the home and found it to be empty.
No additional details were available Sunday morning, although according to a news release the investigation is ongoing, police said.
