Someone shot and killed a woman in Stowe early Saturday, and police say evidence suggests she wasn’t the intended target.

The shooting happened about 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Tunnel Way and Island Avenue, Allegheny County Police said in a release.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as 22-year-old Madison Paige Gilroy, of North Huntingdon. She’d been shot in the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police noted that evidence suggested Gilroy “was not the intended target.”

Officers later found a second victim, a 53-year-old man, with a graze wound to the leg. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact county police at 1-833-255-8477.
