Postage stamp of Mister Rogers might make a comeback
The United States Postal Service — like much of the rest of the country — is gearing up to celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday.
So, in honor of this milestone, the postal service wants to bring back a fan-favorite stamp. And you can help make it happen.
According to a press release, USPS has just launched its “Stamp Encore Contest” in order to both “celebrate the organization’s 250th anniversary and gear up to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary.”
It’s during this contest that the American public is invited to vote on a once-printed stamp to get reissued in 2026. And among the finalists is a Pennsylvanian that many people know: Mr. Fred Rogers.
The Mister Rogers stamp was first issued in 2018. It features the Pittsburgh icon in his iconic cardigan, along with puppet sidekick, King Friday.
One can vote for the Mister Rogers stamp (if that’s what one pleases) to be reissued at stampsforever.com/vote. Voting ends Sept. 30, and the winner will be announced in May 2026 at the Boston 2026 World Expo.
Other stamps finalists include Batman from 2015 as well as “Star Trek” from 2016.
