Halloween events scheduled for North Allegheny area
There’s lots of Halloween fun in the North Allegheny area this month:
Providence Heights Alpha School
The Student Council at Providence Heights Alpha School will host a Trunk-n-Treat in the La Roche University parking lot, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Lots of delicious treats will be distributed, participants can enjoy plenty of games, and there will be a prize for the best decorated car/trunk!
The event will be held rain or shine.
North Allegheny Foundation
The annual North Allegheny Trick-or-Trot returns Oct. 28, featuring a 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run at the Marshall Middle School and Elementary School campus at 5145 Wexford Run Road. Racers can wear costumes.
Registration is open via www.northallegheny.org until 8:25 a.m. on race day. Cost to participate is $30.
The fundraiser will donate three dollars from each registration to benefit the North Allegheny Health and Physical Education department. The donation goal is $25,000, according to the race website.
The 5K race kicks off at 8:30 a.m. The NA Marching Band performs at 9 a.m., followed by the start of the 1 Mile Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. And a costume parade will be held at 10 a.m.
McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage and Cultural Center
McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center on Aufman Lane in McCandless will host Chris Whitlatch, local author of “Notorious Pittsburgh,” at 5 and 7 p.m. Oct. 19.
“Notorious Pittsburgh” features more than 20 stories about the city, including Pittsburgh’s first bank robbery, a famous jailbreak, as well as several stories from the city’s former red-light district and the prohibition era, according to Whitlatch’s book.
Registration for the free event can be done through the www.townofmccandless.org, according to Joe Wall, executive director of the heritage and cultural center.
Bradford Woods
The annual Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company is holding its Halloween parade at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 27. Participants should line up at the Bradford Woods Community Church on Wexford Run Road.
Franklin Park
A Halloween event for kids will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Blueberry Hill Park at the activity center. The event is free but registration is required. Space is limited and is almost full. Visit www.franklinpark borough.us for details.
Marshall Township
Marshall Township Trunk or Treat will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Elias Fry Barn in Knob Hill Park.
Kids can dress up and engage in some Halloween themed-crafts and enjoy light refreshments, she said. Registration is required and can be done through www.twp.marshall.pa.us.
The township is looking for trunk participants to provide items for sale. Email jdrozd@twp.marshall.pa.us to register.
