One person was killed following an incident involving a train in Beaver County.

According to CSX spokesman Bryan Tucker, a CSX train came into contact with a person trespassing on the tracks around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at the east end of a railroad bridge spanning the Ohio River near Atlantic Avenue and Fourth Street in Monaca.

“Unfortunately, the individual was fatally injured as a result of the incident,” Tucker said. “CSX appreciates the quick response of the Beaver County first responders. The incident is under investigation.”

Beaver County 911 said Monaca police are handling the investigation. According to TribLive news partner WTAE, Hopewell volunteer firefighters also were on the scene. There has been no update on the identity of the person killed.
