One man became a millionaire with a Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off ticket purchased in Wilkinsburg, and another lottery player won more than $1 million with a ticket bought in Somerset County.

A man, who said he preferred not to have his name published, won $1 million after purchasing a Millionaire Maker scratch-off ticket at Wilkinsburg Beverage Co. on Penn Avenue.

Millionaire Maker is a $20 game that offers top prizes ranging from $400 to $1 million, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery. There are five top prizes of $1 million.

The overall chances of winning a prize with the ticket are one in 3.21. The odds of winning a million-dollar reward are about one in 1,440,000.

Wilkinsburg Beverage Co. will earn a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Pennsylvania Lottery officials also announced Monday that another major winning ticket was sold in Somerset County. A jackpot-winning Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 with Quick Cash ticket sold for Saturday’s drawing matched all five numbers drawn.

The individual who purchased the ticket won $1.1 million.

Rock City Express, which sold the ticket, earned a $10,000 bonus for selling the winner.

The odds of winning the Cash 5 jackpot prize are one in 962,598, according to Pennsylvania Lottery officials. The overall chances of winning any prize in the main Cash 5 game are about one in 10.5.

More than 31,600 other Cash 5 Quick Cash tickets also won prizes in Saturday’s drawing.

These are the latest in a slew of recent major lottery wins in the region.

Earlier this month, a furloughed steelworker from Indiana County won $3 million on a scratch-off ticket purchased at a Giant Eagle in Ligonier. In March, an Allegheny County man purchased a Match 6 ticket worth more than $3 million at a Sheetz in Monroeville.

Pennsylvania Lottery officials reminded players that scratch-off ticket prizes expire one year after the game’s end-sale date. Winners should immediately sign the back of their ticket and call the PA Lottery at 1-800-692-7481.

All lottery prizes more than $5,000 are subject to applicable withholding.
