2nd Avenue in Hazelwood reopened after fatal morning crash

At least one person died when a car lost control on an icy road and struck a tree in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood early Tuesday.

The crash occurred just after 5:45 a.m. in the area of Second Avenue and Greenfield Avenue, officials said.

Pittsburgh’s Public Safety Department tweeted that a driver heading into the city lost control on ice on hit a tree.

Police had closed Second Avenue between Greenfield Avenue and Mobile Street. It was reopened by 11 a.m.
