Two drivers were injured at the Meadows Racetrack in North Strabane Township on Tuesday when a race horse took a bad step during a turn and fell.

The incident happened during a qualifying event at the harness racing track shortly before 2 p.m. when a horse entering one of the turns fell on the track, Tribune-Review news partners WPXI-TV reported.

A second horse was unable to sidestep the first horse and also fell, causing the driver to flip off his sulky cart.

One of the drivers was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital by medical helicopter and the other driver was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The horses involved in the incident were not injured, the TV station reported.
