A 23-year-old man who shot two people in Somerset County early Saturday morning was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds, state police said.

State police responded to a reported domestic disturbance involving gunfire at a residence on Crestview Drive in Somerset Township around 1:10 a.m.

According to state police, a 24-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man had gone to the residence so the woman could retrieve her belongings. While there, an altercation happened involving the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

State police did not release the ex-boyfriend’s name.

During the altercation, the ex-boyfriend opened fire, striking the woman and the other man, state police said.

The 24-year-old man was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he was listed in critical condition, state police said. The woman was airlifted to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where she was in stable condition.

Troopers found the 23-year-old man dead in the basement. The exact circumstances of his death were under investigation, state police said.
