Two people were killed in a head-on collision in Fayette County Tuesday afternoon, according to state police.

John Snyder, 68, of Scottdale, and Tiler Guth, 24, of Vanderbilt, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Officers responded to the incident shortly before 2:45 p.m. Tuesday along Route 201 in Dunbar Township near Adelaide Road.

According to officials, Snyder, who was driving a 2006 Dodge Charger, sideswiped a cement truck while driving north on Route 201 in Dunbar Township. Initial investigations suggest Snyder was fleeing the scene of that crash at a high rate of speed and was unable to stay in his lane when he collided with Guth.

Guth’s 2017 Chevrolet Malibu ended up in the southbound lane while Snyder’s landed on its roof in the northbound lane, officers said.

Officials are investigating the incident.
