TribLive’s photojournalists have captured a year of stark contrasts, vividly documenting our region and the people who call it home.

The North Shore witnessed a takeover by Swifties as globally renowned pop sensation Taylor Swift brought her Era’s tour to Pittsburgh. An explosion in the Rustic Ridge community in Plum sent shock waves through the region, and the cleanup — and investigation — continues four months later. And the region mourned the deaths of two police officers who were shot while in the line of duty.

Amid the highs and lows, the people of Western Pennsylvania persevered. This collection of images encapsulates the essence of a community navigating through the complexities of a year marked by triumphs and tribulations.
