New Castle police investigate a shooting early Saturday at the Bollinger Playground during a graduation celebration.

One of three three juveniles who were shot early Saturday morning at a playground in New Castle has died, according to authorities.

The New Castle Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the shooting happened at Bollinger Playground “during a graduation celebration.”

Police Chief Robert Salem confirmed to the Tribune-Review that one of the shooting victims, a 15-year-old male, died from his injuries.

Salem said on Saturday evening that they are not releasing the identity of the dead teen, who was from New Castle, until family members have been notified.

New Castle police are asking anyone who was at the party or has information about the shooting to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 724-656-3586. Callers can remain anonymous. Tips also can be submitted online.
