Five residents of a Beaver County nursing home have tested positive for covid-19, officials at the facility confirmed over the weekend.

The infected residents at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph in Baden have been quarantined and staffers have investigated where those residents have been in the facility to determine who they came into contact with, according to a statement from Concordia.

The facility is monitoring other residents for signs and symptoms of the virus, the statement said.

Other residents, their families and employees have been notified of the positive cases.

The facility is working with state health officials and will follow infection control guidelines recommended by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, officials said.

Concordia’s leadership has been meeting throughout the pandemic as cases increased in the region and had plans in place for any cases at the Baden facility, according to the statement.

In mid-March visitation was suspended and residents’ temperatures are checked several times per day. They’re also checked for symptoms of covid-19.

Staff members’ temperatures are also checked at the beginning and end of their shift.

Staffers wear face masks and use other protective equipment when needed, Concordia said.
