Allegheny Health Network expands eligibility for weekend vaccine clinics to include Phase 1C
Allegheny Health Network is expanding eligibility for their covid-19 vaccine clinics this weekend to include those in Phase 1C of the state’s vaccine distribution plan.
During clinics in Monroeville on Friday and Saturday, AHN plans to administer 13,000 doses of the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine to those Phase 1A, 1B or 1C.
Walk-ins will be accepted during Friday’s clinic, according to Candace Herrington, an AHN spokesperson.
“It’s a great opportunity because we have a lot of doses available, and it’s the convenience of the single-dose vaccine,” said Dan Laurent, an AHN spokesperson.
The vaccine clinic will be held at Next Tier Connect at Pittsburgh East, an office building at 4350 Northern Pike, near Forbes Hospital in Monroeville.
AHN plans to administer 6,500 doses of the vaccine on Friday and an additional 6,500 doses Saturday.
Because they had thousands of vaccines available, Laurent said, the state gave them permission to open eligibility to include those in Phase 1C.
Phase 1C includes essential workers several fields, including transportation and logistics, food service, finance, housing construction, media, public safety, energy and legal services.
People should bring ID and expect the process to take about 30 minutes, Laurent said.
AHN has not yet decided whether they will accept walk-ins on Saturday, but appointments are available. To schedule an appointment, visit AHN.org/coronavirus or call 412-DOCTORS.
