Ambridge interim Police Chief Mark Romutis dies
Ambridge interim Chief of Police Mark Romutis died Sunday evening.
Romutis, who was admitted to Allegheny General Hospital, had tested positive for covid-19 late last month, the Beaver County Times reported.
“Chief Mark Romutis was a very good and kind man,” Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier told the newspaper. “He was a strong leader who provided stability and moral guidance to the borough of Ambridge.”
Ambridge officials said 64-year-old Romutis developed coronavirus symptoms on March 20 and was recovering at home, the Times reported.
“We are saddened to hear the unexpected passing of Ambridge Borough’s interim Police Chief Mark Romutis,” the Beaver County Commissioners said in a statement, according to KDKA-TV. “We extend our condolences to his family, friends, co-workers, and the Ambridge community in general. This is a difficult time for all Beaver County’s law enforcement agencies, and with the loss of two leaders in such a short period of time, we extend our sympathy and continued support to all of them as well.”
Romutis’ death comes a day after news of Aliquippa Police Chief Rob Sealock’s death. Sealock died Saturday after suffering a medical emergency while on duty a couple of weeks ago, WPXI-TV reported.
