A former Arkansas man was sentenced to serve more than 12 years in prison for using the internet to meet a Western Pennsylvania girl, with whom he had sex.
Chief U.S. District Judge Mark R. Hornak imposed the sentence Tuesday on Alastair Lee Stewart, 27.
Prosecutors said Stewart used a chat application “Live Me,” and later communicated with the victim via Skype, Snapchat, and text messages for 5 months starting in March 2016.
He then traveled to the New Bethlehem residence of the girl’s grandfather and there sexually assaulted the girl in a motor home on the property, the government alleges.
The FBI and State Police conducted the investigation leading to the federal prosecution of Stewart.
Assistant United States Attorneys Christy C. Wiegand and Jessica L. Smolar prosecuted this case.
