An Armstrong County couple has been charged with sexually assaulting their 1-year-old daughter, according to state police.

Troopers from the Kittanning station were sent on Saturday, April 23 to ACMH Hospital, to investigate an alleged sexual assault.

Police said Jesse A. Wiegand, 29, of Cowansville told hospital staff that he had sexually assaulted his 1-year-old daughter in February. Through their investigation, police determined that both Wiegand and his partner at the time, 30-year-old Heather M. Cressler of Kittanning, had both assaulted the baby.

Both were charged with aggravated indecent sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and indecent sexual assault.

Both were taken to the Armstrong County Jail, Wiegand in lieu of $100,000 bond, and Cressler in lieu of $25,000.

They are both scheduled for a May 4 preliminary hearing in District Judge James H. Owen’s Kittanning courtroom.
